Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh passed away on December 26, following prolonged health issues. He was 92. His death sent shockwaves across the nation, and tributes poured in from all corners. Actor and stand-up comedian Vir Das shared a post on Instagram, urging people to search for Manmohan Singh’s resume online, and read his significant academic and economic contributions.

In his note on Instagram, Vir Das expressed his awe over Dr. Manmohan Singh’s exceptional educational background and professional achievements. Highlighting attention to the former Prime Minister’s remarkable qualifications and career, Vir Das wrote, “Do yourself a favour and Google Dr Manmohan Singh’s resume. Read just the education section, then the whole thing. Awe-inspiring stuff (sic)."

Dr. Manmohan Singh’s eight-page-long resume is available online, and it highlights his impressive academic journey. He completed his B.A and M.A in Economics from Panjab University. He received his Tripos in Economics from University of Cambridge in 1957 with First Class Honours, and was awarded a D. Phil Degree by the University of Oxford in 1962.

    In 1972, Dr. Manmohan Singh became the chief economic adviser in the Ministry Of Finance. Over the years, he rose through the ranks to become India’s Finance Minister from 1991 to 1996. During his tenure, he played a pivotal role in India’s economic reforms. Manmohan Singh served as India’s 14th Prime Minister from 2004 to 2014.

    The death of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was mourned by several Bollywood celebrities including Anushka Sharma, Anil Kapoor, Diljit Dosanjh, Sunny Deol, Anupam Kher, Rajinikanth, and many others. Sunny Deol took to his social media and wrote, "I’m deeply saddened by the passing of Dr. Manmohan Singh, a visionary leader who played a pivotal role in shaping India’s economic liberalization. His wisdom, integrity& contributions to the nation’s growth will always be remembered. My heartfelt condolences. #RIPDrManmohanSingh." Meanwhile, Genelia Deshmukh called Singh a “statesman, economist & a true patriot" in her tribute.
