Even when a product isn’t contaminated with something such as E. coli or salmonella, it can still be recalled if there are harmful bacteria that can cause illness (and in some cases death) or foreign objects like metal fragments. A recall can also be issued when a product’s nutrition label fails to accurately account for all the ingredients, such as allergens. This is the case with Trader Joe's latest recall.
The producer of Trader Joe’s Hot Honey Mustard Dressing, Fresh Creative Foods, is voluntarily recalling the product because the label does not accurately call out the ingredients that are known allergens, which is a requirement by law.
How to Know If You Have the Recalled Product
Due to a labeling error on the package, several of Trader Joe’s Hot Honey Mustard Dressing with the "Use By" Date of May 27, 2025, are being recalled. The label does not indicate that the condiment may contain peanuts, soy, sesame, or wheat.
The Trader Joe’s Hot Honey Mustard with the incorrect label was distributed to TJ's locations in Arkansas, Colorado, Washington, D.C., Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Kansas, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Maryland, North Carolina, New Mexico, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Virginia.
A photo of the recalled item can be found here. The recalled item should no longer be on store shelves, but it may still be in consumers’ homes.
Consumers who are allergic to peanuts, soy, sesame, or wheat may get an allergic reaction after eating the dressing, so Trader Joe's is urging anyone who has purchased the item to bring it to a store for a full refund or discard it. As of this writing, no customer complaints have been reported.
